Part 1 - Note Structure, Hierarchy, Related Sounds - We go over the Note Structure, Hierarchy, and some very useful related chords.
Part 2 - Voicings and Progressions - We look at some chord types that you can play over the 2 chord, which will largely be the same as the 6 chord except with the Natural 6 instead of flat-6. We also look at some progressions that feature the 2 chord, and talk about how important it is to not mix up the 6 chord with the 2 chord.
Part 3 - Basic Leads, Minor with 6 - The main focus here is to locate and feature the Natural 6, the 2 chord's color note. Besides that note the structure is exactly the same as the 6 chord, so all of your normal minor sounds will work, just with the added natural 6.
Part 4 - Pretend Chord Madness! - We revisit the idea of using Pretend Chords in our lead, which is when we simply pretend a chord is happening when it is not to achieve a certain sound. Unlike the other chords we have talked about however, we are going to pretend all six other chords are happening, as the 2 chord is a unique situation that allows every other sound to work.
Part 5 - Mixing Major and Minor - We revisit a concept we discussed in The 5 Chord - Part 7, mixing major and minor over a Dominant chord. However, now that we know the details of the 2 chord, we can fully dive into this concept and explore how and why it works.
Part 6A - Learning Songs for a Gig - Instead of going through songs like normal, I take you through my process of learning a song for a gig from start to finish. This song also happens to feature the 2 chord.
Part 6B - Learning More Songs for a Gig - We go through two more songs that may or may not feature the 2 chord.
Part 7 - Using Songs as Backing Tracks - We go over a few tunes that I personally like to use as backing tracks. An interesting assortment that should provide some entertainment!
Part 8 - Intro to Melodic Minor - An informal introduction to the sound that is most commonly known as Melodic Minor. We will for sure discuss this sound more in the future, but due to its similarity to the 2 chord (minor 6) I felt it would be good to plant the seed.
Part 9A - Writing with Min 6 - I wrote another short piece. This time featuring not only the sound of The 2 Chord (minor 6), but also the sound known as Melodic Minor (minor with 6 and 7).
Part 9B - Recording Project Walkthrough - The Cubase Project File walkthrough of the most recent 2 chord tune. We'll go through the sounds being used and my process in creating this type of thing.
Part 10 - Chord vs Chord in Song Writing - I've written another short clip of music that features a change in the progression, in which I use the Chord Vs Chord concept to navigate to a variety of different sounds.
