Part 1 - Note Structure, Note Hierarchy - This chord is the most popular major sound in modern music, and is an extremely effective sound/tool for writing melodies and soloing for reasons discussed in this video.

Part 2 - 4 vs 1, Intro to Pretend Chords - We compare the notes of the 1 chord (the key) with the notes of the 4 chord, just like we have done before with the 5 chord. This time however, we discover a very easy way to get some great sounds by "Pretending" to play a chord that isn't actually happening.

Part 3 - Chord Voicings - In this lesson we play the standard 4 chord and add in the 2, 7, 6, and #4 one at a time to see what they do to the sound.

Part 4 - "Pretend" Chord Voicings, Band Arrangements - We go over the "Pretend" chord concept and how we can use it to create some rich voicings over a 4 chord. We will do this by Pretending a 1, as well as a 5 chord is happening.

Part 5 - Lots of Song Examples - In this lesson, we review a wide variety of songs that use the 4 chord in a few key ways:

-Featuring the color note, the Sharp 4 (#4)

-Using it as an Impact Chord
-Using it while writing melodies/parts around the 1 chord.

Part 6 - Leads - Simple ways to approach playing leads or melodies over the 4 chord. We will feature the #4, as well as some Pretend Chords.

Part 7 - Writing With The 4 Chord - We go over two short pieces that I have written that showcase the 4 chord and its strengths.

Part 8 - Writing a Solo - I've written a solo over a backing track associated with the 4 chord (link below). I use pretty much all of the ideas discussed throughout this 4 chord mini series, and I show you how and why I made the decisions I did.
