Song 1 - "Little Wing"
-Classic tune with a chord progression that is made up of simple sounds, but is a slight challenge due to it's length and chord variety.
-We go over some simple strategies to cover the fretboard with triads for the progression, and start going over ways to stay locked into the progression when improvising.
Song 2 - "Hotel California"
-Classic tune with a chord progression that is made up of a variety of sounds, including spicy dominant. Also a decent amount of time before each switch, and a built in pattern between many of the chords.
-We repeat the simple strategies from the previous lesson to keep us locked into the progression, apply some fun dominant sounds, and start looking at ways to give us larger chord voicings by adding notes.
-Extremely typical progression for modern R&B, and a structure that I call a "1 - something - 4 - something"
-While we will repeat the same strategies used in the previous tunes, this song will force us to turn everything into 7th chords. Not only will we modify our triads to achieve this sound, I will also showcase pretend chords as a wildly valuable strategy to also get the 7th chord sound. For example, playing F#m over D = Dmaj7.
